    Another take:

The happy rider, is a conspiracy theory enjoyer. Happy in the “knowledge” that someone (anyone) is at the controls of the world, it gives comfort in a perverse way. Even though they know that the “controllers” are doing bad things.
The sad rider, is a realist. Can see that they are stuck on a trolley that is currently plowing through people, their personal actions mean nothing in the aggregate of all other actions in the world. They saw that the person at the leaver chose to keep themselves pure, rather than reduce the suffering in the world and taint themselves in the process.

Person on right is glad because they saw the death that was avoided. Person on left is sad because they see what is lost. America voted which path, and I’ll be generous and say that neither passenger could see the other side’s track

I don’t understand what this is supposed to be. The path we just took was toward the people and we also added spinning chainsaws to the front of the trolley

It took the combined efforts of a lot of people to accomplish the Trump presidency. It took Harris’ weak platform, it took tankies’ attacks on Harris, and it took voters believing that Harris was worse than fascism. It’s a democracy, and that means millions of people share the blame.

Jesus Christ stop with this “tankies” bullshit already. Go outside. I fucking wish there were millions of “tankies” out there swaying US elections, but there aren’t. Attacks land most solidly when they are based in truths. I personally did not vote for Harris because of her unapologetic support for Israel’s genocide. How many other people did the same? A hundred thousand maybe? A couple hundred thousand?

The democrats fucked up by assuming that “not Trump” would get out the vote like it did in 2020. Unfortunately, they haven’t done shit for people since then. They’ve had 4 years to get shit done that nobody could argue with, but they didn’t. Instead, they took a hard right turn in the campaign (Gaza, border policy, “muscular military”, etc). Predictably, this didn’t " energize the base".

Democrat leadership decided fascism was preferable to any capital concessions to the working class. It wasn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last.

The trolly problem has a clear moral good choice and bad choice. Saying the dem picked the choice with more deaths clearly indicates you think Trump is the track with less death, i.e. the good guy. Man, logic is never a strong suite for people like you huh?

There is no clear moral choice in the trolley problem. It comes down to personal opinion and morals, whether or not you believe that moving the switch makes you responsible for killing the one man, and not engaging the switch at all makes you a bystander, since you didn’t move the trolley or tie the people up in the first place.

Or if you believe that it’s still morally correct to reduce the number of lost lives, if you have to kill someone in the process.

Oh, and I didn’t vote for anyone.

The trolly problem only works because it’s headed towards a large group and you have a choice to make of allowing a thing to happen that you had no part causing in the first place. That is not the case in this situation.

Also never called you an American or said anything about you voting. I was talking about the opinion of Trump. So don’t know where that came from, seems a bit defensive.

You missed my point entirely. My point was that we wouldn’t have Trump had Democrats focused on popular progressive messaging and not the align with the Cheney’s, always support genocide, pro-corporate messaging.

That establishment Democrat on the right looks surprisingly happy

That’s saying the right path was chosen by the dems, where the other would be the republicans. You may have meant to send a different message about aligning with the right, but that’s not how it comes across. For what it’s worth, I very much agree with you on that point.

That’s not how I saw the photo. I didn’t see it as being a Republican on one side and Democrat on the other. I saw it being an establishment Democrat on one side and a Bernie-like progressive on the other.

The blame the Democrats deserve is secondary by about a half marathon. There’s nazis about, boy!

And that still leaves room for a lot of blame. But no, the underperforming firefighters are not at fault for the fire, the arsonist is.

The arsonist in this scenario would be the corporate Democrat consultants and Kamala herself. You run the same campaign in 4 more years and you’ll get another Republican. It is time for self-reflection and people to demand change in the Democratic party. Failing to do that is exactly why Trump got re-elected.

What got Trump elected is climate change increasing pressures in hundreds of domains, making people fearful and easy to manipulate. It’s happening the world over. Blaming whoever opposes Trump for not doing it quite right is another flavor of copium.

I agree, but what do you do about that? I’m not out here geo-engineering albedo shit to still climate change.

So where does the blame go? I think at status quo Dem leadership when people are genuinely anxious and struggling. Maybe Kamala did the best she could for who she is, but the DNC should have been retired when Obama won
