This news is very bad. Google shouldn’t implement features that are outside of the scope of RCS, because then they’ll not be compatible with Apple’s implementation.
They should propose new features to be embedded in the standard.
End-to-end encryption still isn’t part of the spec, so I’m not confident in them adding edits to the RCS standard.
With many carriers switching to Google’s RCS server [1] I fear RCS will just become another word for Google Messages.

…except it will still be worse than a regular “chat app” in many ways.
Worst of both worlds, yay!
Great standard

I still don’t have any of the new features in this damn app lol and I have a P8
I’m on the beta and have photomoji but none of the other features lol
Still waiting on the custom colors for conversations 🤞
Which new features are you referring to? Are you enrolled in the beta version of the app?
This is how my keyboard looks within Google Messages app. You can disregard the square with the number one in it, that’s just for selecting which sim card I’ll be using.
They are testing it in the Beta versions, hopefully it will be added to the release versions soon as it seems like a cool feature
