Waymo, the self-driving car division of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, issued a recall for its own self-driving car software after two of its cars hit the same truck minutes apart.
The critical factor for a self-driving car is that their safety record per mile beats that of a human. They’re already well past that bar.
They’ll fail in different scenarios than a human will, but any failure that comes up at this point, unless it realistically stands to change that, isn’t something that I’m going to get excited about.

When you really think about it, there’s nothing to be gained by putting a human inside one. Just let the cars do their thing.
