Dungeon Meshi is a well liked manga, and an adaptation by Studio Trigger is now airing. If you haven’t picked this one up, consider joining us. Both for fun and as a way of contributing to activity on Lemmy.

Episodes are available to stream on Netflix.

After a “difficult” descent down some spiral stairs, Laios’ party has arrived on the fifth floor of the dungeon. The location of the Orc settlement, and where they told our group that the Red Dragon has been hanging around. Surely, saving Falin can’t be this close? There are still so many episodes left!

And this I have been looking forward to all week. Today we get our first look at whats happening in the world outside the dungeon. Our main group hasn’t shown much interest in politics, though Chilchuck is something of an activist when it comes to the welfare of halflings. Mr. Tansu, it turns out, reports to the lord of the land on how to manage the dungeon, and how to access its riches.

The plot is beginning to weave in all the other narrative strands of the world, widening the scope of the story.

Namari, Kaka and Kiki also get some more screentime. Namari left the party before Laios explained to Marcille and Chilchuck that Falin was consumed by the red dragon, and so Namari was left unaware of her fate. As such she has been checking the resurrection office for Falin as often as she can. Ready to arrange for her resurrection even despite her money issues.

Remember not to spoil anything if you’re a manga reader, but feel free to elaborate on tidbits of lore that may not be coming through in the adaptation.

Laios named his sword Kensuke lmao

Looks like it’s finally time to fight the bbeg. Can’t wait to see how they cook it! If we’re going by Konosuba logic, dragon meat is supposed to taste awful.

He named it back in episode 5, announcing the name right as Marcy and Chilchuck are regretting throwing the “inedible” bugs down the dungeon.

This is the first time we hear Marcille refer to her staff as “Ambrosia” though, unlike Laios, she mostly keeps the fact that she named it to herself :D
