As I started to work with Lemmy and understand how it is implements the distribution of content through
the federation, I became in favor of having separate instances for topics and people. This would help reduce a lot of the political conflicts and avoid issues of people in one instance getting detached from larger communities because some.people in instance X don’t like some people from in instance Y.
Also, I wouldn’t want to have my “main” identity defined by or attached to any of my interests.
Lastly, I am sure that the people behind fanatics.social have good intentions, but the instance is still on 0.18.4 and it doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.
