Researchers from Germany warned existing emissions have already put the world economy on course for a reduction of nearly a fifth within 25 years, a figure that is likely to grow once increasing damage from weather disasters like storms and wildfires are factored in.
At some point one of the big countries that’s being negatively by this is going to say “screw it, let’s try solar geoengineering.” The cost is actually pretty small on this scale.
Sure would be nice if there was a bunch of research to draw on when that time comes, instead of just flailing away.
There is some research being done in this area, but yeah it’s almost certainly going to have epic unintended consequences.
