This guy is at that strange intersection where right-wing politics, religious conservatism, and inceldom meet.

I don’t think it’s really promoting the video, but more showing people who to stay away from.

It’s easier to stay away from something you don’t know exists. That’s like saying “Taste this! It’s awful!”

This is only going to drive more traffic to the video

To me, it depends on the person seeing this post. If they think to watch it, then they will, and there’s no stopping it, so to use your example “Taste this! It’s awful!”

On the other hand you have people who see this post, and think that they shouldn’t watch this video. As an example it’s like saying “Taste this! It’s awful!” And respond to it “No, I won’t taste it.”

It all depends on the person. Sadly this sort of content is gonna be spread around everywhere anyway, and there’s really no stopping it.

I see your point and I hope you see mine. I hope you have an amazing evening/day!

The thing is, from this post alone, I can’t even tell who it is so I could avoid them without clicking through to the video and generating engagement.

I don’t know, for me, I don’t need to click on the link to see who it specifically is. I just see some weird person, and just ignore it.

Then you haven’t gained any information from the post which gets back to my original point.

I gained the information that, these types of content creators exist, and they are not to my liking, so I know that I wouldn’t watch any of their content.

If you want to provide a video for criticism but don’t want to drive traffic to the site, you could copy it to a peertube instance. Peertube can just slurp a video right off youtube and start hosting it. Of course that is its own moral pickle. Criticism is fair use, but it’s more complicated than that, and legal doesn’t mean right.
