Are we supposed to pretend Doug Ford’s $200 ‘rebate’ isn’t a pre-election bribe?

Other premiers have sent constituents rebate cheques, but as a bonus from a surplus. Mr. Ford’s government is billions of dollars in the red

75% tax exemption on provincial political donations, so if you donate to the NDP you spend $50 and the provincial government sends $150 supporting them.

So by giving that 200 check to the NPD. I’d be forcing the Ford government to also give money to the NPD?

        Effectively yes.

They give you $200. You give the NDP $200. You get $150 back at tax time.

Now you have $150, the NDP has $200, so you’ve effectively had Ford give the NDP $150.

This should be a campaign. Imagine if even 5% of people gave their $200 to the NDP. It would be so funny if this election bribe gave the NDP enough money to win
