An I the only one who remembers Digimon, the og 90s Isekai?
Real OGs remember the Mark Twain’s 1889 Isekai, “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.”
I always felt like SAO was just .hack// but worse.
First half had me so hyped. Like .hack with less filler. Then they had a digital baby and off the rails it went.
I’m sorry what?! I thought I watched the whole series but I don’t remember any babies!
The miniature girl they adopted (Yui)
Oh wow totally forgot haha ty
SAO is only the best in the context of a great idea that was largely wasted in execution.
The abridged series is a substantially better execution than the original.
I was gonna say, I haven’t watched a ton of anime, but I started watching SAO once and hated it.
Log Horizon was better.
I believe you mean is.
The manga is still running, no reason to assume we won’t get more anime as well
The manga is still running
That needs some quotation marks. The light novel has been on hiatus since 2018. That was 5 years ago with very little activity since. I think they may have announced the names of the new 2 volumes but the series has basically been ice since then.
Ah, shit, I was just going off wikipedia saying it’s still running; I assumed the lack of new anime was just a covid thing :/
Nah they also cut back season 3 probably because they’re running out of course material. First 2 seasons were 25 episodes and the third was 12. Shame because I’d like to see another season but for all intents and purposes it’s looking to go the way of many animes before it where they ended on a cliff hanger and then never finish the series.
Yo this is the best one too!
Pretty sure I asked for a suit of their armor for Christmas, guess my dumbass thought it was real
Familiar of zero and likely countless others released decades before sao…
Wait, is SAO the reason so much isekai follows video game rules?
No, Spy Kids is, didn’t you look at the meme?
Nah, a lot of that’s coincidence with Litrpg becoming popular around the same time that isekai started taking over western webfiction. It’s also why there’s roughly half a million litrpg “system apocalypse” stories where the isekai comes to Earth instead.
I never really thought of that movie in ages, was the first 3d movie I’ve ever watched, I loved it. I never though about comparing it to SAO or Log Horizon. It’s interesting to think about
Okay, but what about Tron?
