I feel like Trump is just waiting for his opportunity (ie major war/attack) to declare martial law and extend his presidency past 4 years. I really hope I’m wrong.

I don’t think Trump is waiting.
On the bright side a hot war between two nuclear powers likely means you won’t have to worry about the next four years.
Hilariously those are the two that would probably be containable.
