Apple’s phones are locked down pretty tightly where if you want to do anything outside of their ecosystem, you have to root it (and nullify your warranty). Android at least gives you enough access where you can counteract the vast majority–if not the entirety of Google’s tracking/spying–while also being able to work outside of Google’s app store, all without rooting your phone.
