Liberals are set to cut funding for WAGE by as much as 80% and reduce WAGE staffing by over 35% within the next three years.

My God. Taking up USA Democrat playbook.

This is just identity politics dressed up as progressivism.

These social service cuts go far beyond WAGE. Meanwhile disabled people and other demographics have been left in the cold.

NDP needs to use their platform better. Identity politics and turning a national unity slogan into divisive rhetoric undermines their credibility as a whole.

Stop pointing fingers and start talking solutions.

I mean it would certainly be better if NDP framed this in the context of the overall class struggle. Unfortunately, they’ve effectively abandoned any talk of socialism under Singh.

I didn’t even know the NDP had a blog. Probably the last time I’ll read it. NDP have focus grouped themselves out of relevance.

I generally agree, unless they make big changes, I don’t see how they can stay viable. They’ve just become libs lite at this point.

I’m sure this is the first of a long list of necessary public sector cuts that we’re going to see. Not necessary because the program or the cause aren’t justifiable. Necessary because a) we have a budget problem that existed well before the current tariff and soveriegnty crisis, and b) this government is about to commit to a whole bunch of new spending on infrastructure and national defence. We can’t have it all and still reasonably pay for it. Hell, we may still not be able to pay for it.

But that said, consider priorities: Is women and gender equality better served by this program, or by having a safe, secure, and prosperous nation? Look south to consider the alternative.

I’d love to see WAGE stick around. Hell, I’d like to see it expanded. In the meantime, Canadians, especially the menfolk, can commit to equality each and every day to rightfully improve the conditions of women.

LMFAO the cuts are to facilitate 5% NATO spending, that’s not how you make a safe and prosperous nation. This neoliberal carnie is going to rip up the fundamental social contract to fund militarism. Anybody who thinks this is going to be for the benefit of Canadians is naive beyond belief.
