Many millions spent in legal fees to block leftists from ballot access, propping up rightwing Dems primarying leftists, funneling funds into the campaigns of far right Republicans running against leftists, etc. Even a very expensive write-in campaign against their own candidate in Buffalo, because she was a leftist.
