Nvidia currently supplies both the GPU chip and memory as bundle to GPU manufacturers. GDDR7 costs are increasing, Nvidia doesn’t want to deal with it and shifted the responsibility of sourcing memory to its GPU partners. This will hit smaller GPU manufacturers the hardest because they do not have the leverage to source memory chips especially in the current market where memory chips are experiencing severe shortage due to AI.
