Musk claimed the Cybertruck is better than any other truck but also more of a sports car than any other sports car, made of a “special Tesla designed steel alloy” that he claimed will never rust and which cannot be stamped but which can also be produced in volume.

The skepticism is coming through very heavy and I’m all for it.

Musk implied that in a crash with another vehicle, the Cybertruck—which weighs 6,603–6,843 lbs (2,995–3,104 kg)—will destroy the other vehicle.

It’s a car, not a battlebot. Nobody should want to destroy the other vehicle in the event of a crash.

For normal people like you and me, no, but rich narcissistic assholes will definitely want that. Since nothing is ever their fault, the other person must have caused the crash, so they deserve to pay the price.

Frankly, I think that kind of hateful, aggressive, “fuck you I got mine” marketing is the best way to sell this monstrosity.

Have you ever met an American?

      Six thousand lbs. Holy fuck.

I’m pretty sure that like 1500lbs more than any mid-size pickup (Toyota Tacoma, Honda Ridgeline), and as much as a full-size pickup.

          And that’s a 3500.

Any idea what the 1500 weighs? Gotta be notably less.

IIRC, the last generation Tundra came in at 6000lbs, in 2wd form. Think 6500 for 4wd.

My diesel Navara (Frontier in the US) is 4500lbs but then again any electric vehicle is going to be heavier than ICE cars. Rivian R1T weights 8500lbs

That’s impressive for a diesel. Diesel usually adds a lot of weight, and that’s spot-on a mid-size truck weight.

Yes, but this will crush a modern SUV. US car manufacturing is entering arms race stage. Soon the only save way to travel will be in a tank.

Good luck getting this thing homologated in Europe. Or any country outside the US, really. I mean, I guess the Russians will take it. Then at least we’ll see how bullet proof it really is.
