Irritating. I’m trying to extricate myself from Google entirely, but in the meantime I’ve used uBlock Origin to block the notification.
Thunderbird/FreeMail?
I don’t use the website much at all anymore
People still use gmail?
Of course they do… Most organizations in the US are using Gmail at this point. I don’t even know a single person in my life that doesn’t.
Most orgs in the US use 365. https://blogs.gartner.com/craig-roth/2021/07/30/should-microsoft-office-365-be-afraid-of-google-workspace-gartner-2020-market-share-report-says/ says Microsoft has “almost 90%”.
I don’t use Gmail, my wife don’t use Gmail, I can’t think of any friends that use Gmail. People in my circle don’t see value in trading privacy for a “free” email account. I use fastmail, been very pleased.
Virtually every company public and private in the US use Gmail or Outlook. Interesting that your circle is using alternatives but you’re still very much an outlier. Like to an extreme that’s very surprising to hear. For personal use nearly 90%+ of global market share splits between Gmail and Apple with nearly 60% of email in the US being Gmail based and Apple holding most of the rest.
You call me an outlier, I say that I am not a sheep.
Yeah you really showed the man what’s what by using a different email client
Well, either way it’s clear you’re feeling very smug about it.
Every single person I know uses gmail here where I live. I’m the local IT guy here in my small village in the UK and I’ve not come across anyone NOT using gmail
That’s sad. Too bad the entire village doesn’t know that Google is shite and that there are better options available.
But it’s not shit for them. It’s always works, never down, works fast, and reliably on the computers/laptops/phones etc. Most people could not give a monkies if they are tracking cookies. It’s easy to use so they have no reason to move away. Not everyone is a tech nerd who looks for other solutions which are normally more complex. They just want something that works, and that is why gmail/google is popular.
