Police were told by an Army Reserve unit company commander they were obligated to take those concerns "very seriously," but needed to take it "with a grain of salt."
They weren’t just taking it “with a grain of salt”, they were taking the whole situation with about 5 or 6 pounds of salt!
That isn’t to say that this isn’t uncommon in the military; but it shows that both the Captain and Sergent could have, and probably should have, done more. It may, however, take an indeterminate amount of time for the Army to admit that. Likely because it takes a long time for them to investigate things thoroughly.
