I’m not reading the manual of the Uber I’m about to climb into. A firefighter isn’t going to read the manual of a car they’re trying to pry me out of.
I DO read the manual on the Kia I actually drive. To read about the recommendations for the tires. To read about replacing fuses. To find the load hauling capacity. Not how to open the fucking door.
safety shouldn’t influence artistic choice
Did you really just string those words together in all seriousness without a hint of irony? And that folks is exactly why we need the NHTSA.
A child isn’t going to find that. A rescuer who isn’t familiar with Teslas isn’t going to be able to find that.
I couldn’t even figure out how to open a fully functional door from outside the first time I got in a Tesla. I’m an adult who’s been driving my entire life.
That’s not innovation; it’s a safety hazard for the sake of the aesthetics of a handle that doesn’t stick out. I don’t view that as a reasonable trade-off.
Jesus Christ. We use a related drug, dexmetomidine (Precedex), to keep people sedated when they’re on a mechanical ventilator in the ICU. We use a Precedex infusions to detox people who are in life-threatening alcohol withdrawal among other things. If we start seeing people roll in with a street tolerance to Precedex, we’re gonna have to make some serious adjustments.
I just wanna say that I appreciate the hell out of you.
Pharma companies are basing pricing for these one-time-in-a-life-dose drugs on supply and demand principles. There will never be high demand for these drugs because the conditions are so rare. And only needing to be dosed once for a complete lifetime cure means that there is no recurrent payment happening the way you would have with a drug that needed to be dosed repeatedly over a lifetime.
You’ll hear all the usual excuses about “muh R&D costs 😭😭” but the truth is they’re pricing it this way because they can. Because somewhere in the bible of capitalism, this is the way things work.
(R&D costs are just an excuse for greed: https://www.treatmentactiongroup.org/resources/tagline/tagline-fall-2018/pharma-lies-people-die-myth-busting-fact-sheet-on-medicine-development-and-pricing/)
It’s illegal to ask you not to discuss wages in the United States. Violation of federal labor law.
Oh it gets so much worse:
“Much of the misconduct described in the notice had been reported years ago to the county, raising questions about the inaction of hospital leaders. Kwong’s secretary complained more than a decade ago that her boss would remark on the grooming of anesthetized patients’ pubic hair”
So why did this suddenly become a problem now?
“Kwong, an orthopedic surgeon, received more than $700,000 from the medical device company Zimmer Biomet, which makes joint replacements, without reporting the conflict of interest to the county. He flew twice on the company’s private plane to its Indiana headquarters with medical residents from the hospital, according to the Feb. 27 notice informing him of his firing.”
Star Trek. It’s a whole plotline with O’Brien
OP is in Denmark, so no recluse spiders there lol.
Not my fault you’re wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Children are not routinely getting permanent surgical interventions for gender affirming care. Tattoos and piercings can both be undone.

Then the politicians can update licensing organizations. We DO NOT NEED NEW LAW about this or about pregnancy care.
Oh, don’t worry sweetheart, I knew what you were fishing for. You don’t have to spell it out. I’m just not interested in listening to you pontificate.
Medical care and cosmetic body art are nowhere near the same thing, so you can fuck off with that.
Invented by a society and enforced by a professional licensing organization. We already have those mechanisms in place, bud. The ignorant politicians need to stay out of medical decisions.
You don’t need specifics. There’s no reason to ban medical care that was recommended and prescribed by a licensed Medical Doctor and agreed to by citizens of the United States and their families.
We have medical ethics boards. The ignorant politicians need to stay out of medical decisions.
Medical care that was recommended and prescribed by a licensed Medical Doctor is being banned for citizens of the United States and their families.
“Men are afraid women will laugh at them. Women are afraid men will kill them.”
There’s a reason Margaret Atwood was the person who pointed this out.
For the record, the reason those ranges are different is actually a regulatory thing and not arbitrary. Labs are required to base their normal ranges on some kind of statistical sampling of their own lab results so that their normal ranges more accurately reflect the population of people who tend to use that particular lab and the particular equipment in use at that lab.
Not important information really, just something I found fascinating when I learned it.
I’m on book 8, and if you can believe it gets even better. I’m a little speechless about it.
Well, in this particular patient population, I think you’re kind of damned if you do, damned if you don’t. We always seem to prefer the risk of intervention over the risks of conservative management
We’ve gone right back to the 1990s health insurance denying everything and covering nothing. What a ridiculous backslide.
