Should be similar on most Linux distros.
Fan of Linux, modifying firmwares, and open source software. Mostly here to kill time and contribute to Lemmy’s growth.
If you want to play a game together over XLinkKai shoot me a message. I have an original Xbox, PS2, and a PS3 I can use.

Can you mount them? If so what does that look like?
I really think it comes down to the individual. I personally think that Aldous Huxley’s book Brave New World was likely derived at least partially from the book We by Russian author Yevgeny Zamyatin but both Aldous Huxley and my 10th grade English teacher would disagree. I don’t think it’s wrong to take someone else’s work and add upon it in a way you view beneficial. I view it as a natural evolution if anything and if it gives someone something to enjoy or makes the creative processes a little easier I’m all for it.
Yeah in the same remixing a song is considered original
Does anyone know why I would be unable to view my own posts? I have tried Jerboa and the desktop version of Lemmy but under both when I sort by Overview or Posts both turn up blank. This has been going for a while not but I believe for a while after I lost the ability to view my posts in Jerboa I was able to see my posts on the desktop website.
I can still posts and get replies to my posts. Could this have something to do with me disable Show Read Posts in the settings?
Do you feel like you ever got over the initial setup period? A lot of what you are describing is what I encounter after a fresh install but I don’t typically have any issues after a little bit of tweaking.
What laptop is it?
Have you checked out this page?
Yeah I get that. I wasn’t suggesting Invidious. I was saying NewPipe is a good option because you can port your subscriptions to other platforms.
You don’t need to start fresh every time you start using an open source alternative.
That said it would work in OP’s situation because it’s pretty much platform agnostic and there are available apps to make it easier to use on the Play Store. I still think NewPipe is the way to go though because it’s designed for Android.
Yeah. As long as you don’t make any alterations to the VM like sharing drives for example. If you had enough storage you could also make snapshots on occasion so you have a back up in the event of malware but you wouldn’t likely get malware unless you are opening the files on that VM
Probably the Audiobook Bay
With DDLs I’d be more worried about malware then fines.
That said you should only sites that have HTTPS.
Worth noting you can export your subscriptions on NewPipe so you can bring them to other platforms.
On PC you can you use Individious
Appreciate the hard work!
People at work put hot sauce in their coffee
If you are using direct downloads you probably don’t even need Tor. You should avoid torrenting through Tor. It puts unnecessary strain a volunteer network
It depends what you are looking for. NES Roms? You can use Internet Archive and a download manager. Some romance playlist you made on Spotify and now want to burn on a CD? You can use a converter that will fetch MP3 files from YouTube.
The megathread is the place to look.
You may want to look into Usenet. There is a price involved but it’s not significantly more than a VPN.
To store stuff I use large hard drives. Most of my data is on one other device so those drives act as a back up in a way. It’s unlikely both devices fail at the same time
Is Railway Hosting what people are using for hosting Lemmy instances?
This is something I’ve struggled with. I read a lot of trending books in high school like Hunger Games and Twilight but ended up reading 50 Shades of Grey to the end and it honestly turned me off of reading for a while
I’m not the fastest reader so it really seemed like I just wasted a lot of time
