I mean, I don’t disagree with you that if you don’t use the proceeds to help the planet or infrastructure improvements for non-car users, it is just a cash grab, but you probably needs to be aware what community you’re on, and what the consensus view is. Can you give an example of people shoehorning Linux into conversations? Usually the only comment I see is already on Linux, and it’s the Arch btw’s, which is a meme in itself. Maybe you need to search for subs you like, and subscribe to them, and have subscribed as the default view. All may not be your cup of tea, like all was never my cup of tea on reddit. You’re not always going to be in the majority view, and that is fine.

The thing is, most western governments are pushing towards facial recognition and monitoring without the need for a warrant. Most countries are already stacked up to the eyeballs with CCTV (UK for example, and hooking that in with facial recognition is dangerous). First they start off with it being for terrorists, then paedophiles, then other criminals, but ultimately, it’s monitoring everyone to track down a few. When you have that infra in place, and you don’t have sufficient oversight, you can soon tweak that towards activist groups, then opposition groups etc.

You have to challenge it before the infrastructure goes in, because after it’s in, it’s already too late.

I don’t see why not. There is a difference between an off chance of someone noticing you vs. camera’s with high accuracy recognising your face and being able to track your locations, what places you visited and who with for every minute of every day.

From a young age, black kids are told their natural hair is unkempt, and often by white teachers. The view of what is neat hair, and isn’t neat hair is very subjective. This constant unconscious, and sometimes conscious bias is not helpful. It’s often used as disguised form of discrimination.

I’m not saying this is the case with the original poster and think it was a genuine mistake, but it’s something we probably need to move away from.

I appreciate the work you’re doing to aid in accessibility. I’m not sure using “unkempt hair” is quite right. I would have thought this is natural afro hair. I don’t think the hair description adds to the transcription so is probably better to remove.
