We stopped giving out candy and instead do chips, juice, gummies, cracker packs, etc. The cost is roughly the same, he kids send to love it, and we don’t want to be stuck with a bunch of leftover candy.

Since I stopped taking BC (husband is on chemo so he said what’s the point) and am in my early 40s, I can truly say I don’t know because they’re often sporadic and frankly tracking it is the least of my concerns.
Thank you, I completely forgot about his website; will definitely keep it in mind for the future!
Thanks for the responses. Even before his situation, the insurance industry was always a point of contention with us and I never hesitate to get on my soapbox to argue my disdain for everything. The lack of empathy from this country is sickening and unfortunately as my husband says we’re now stuck.
This has been a fun ride for us, husband was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer end of last year. Met the max oop for our plan very quickly and have everything on the minimum payment plan. Things reset in July and we returned from vacation (needed our son to have some normalcy) to a $1300 bill for his first chemo treatment in the new cycle. We asked if the oncology office will work with us so we’ll see what comes of that. It’s exhausting and I don’t know how people without insurance survive (although the current system is an absolute joke).
This is my boomer dad whenever he complains about it being extremely hot in the summer, cold in the winter, too much rain, etc. Always responds well it won’t last too long and that’s just nature, nothing we can do about it because it has a mind of its own.
Awww, my two favorite animals together!

6·7 months agoWe had been mulling over the idea of leaving, but then my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in Nov. He says he’s now tainted, but if it gets too bad our son and I can leave; it’s just a sad future no matter how I spin it at this point.

41·10 months agoMy father uses a knife and fork to cut off the crust, eat in pieces, and then continues to use the knife and fork. It is so embarrassing whenever we’re out.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you have kids? Do you want to have kids? Did you regret having / not having kids?
6·10 months agoHad baby fever for about 2 years before my husband got his and we initially wanted at least 2. Had our son and the fever never returned. I didn’t want to have another to appease society and end up with a child that I honestly would have regretted. I’m now happily one and done with an 8 year old. When things aren’t going well, I have to remind myself and especially my husband that he’s a child.

7·11 months agoI guess I never thought about it, but my job technically does this once/month as we have an off-site day and it usually involves doing things that normally aren’t open to the public.
I am glad to know I’m not alone in this line of thinking!

11·1 year agoMy area appears to have been hit with a paper towel shortage first. Attempted to get some at Costco today because we legit needed it, but they had none. Went to Lidl and they were running low, but was able to procure some.
They still do this actually. Not quite as cool as when we were kids, but my son brought home a coupon last year for his pizza!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What’s your “I can’t believe other people don’t do this” hack?
3·1 year agoI did this at work recently when my coworker brought me a pack of leftover hotdog buns. Texted my husband that I was having a veggie hotdog, but the fact that I didn’t think to do it until 42 is somewhat embarrassing.

This was my coworker at my old job. I’d go to open the microwave to reheat my lunch and find her coffee cup there from earlier. It became a running joke whenever she couldn’t find something to check the microwave.
