  • It’s just capitalism. They externalized costs in the form of human suffering and subsidized the rest, which let them dominate the market and advance their technology and (most importantly) skill to the point of surpassing most of the world. China sells a lot of crap only because that’s what the market demands; “chinesium” is a myth now: the truth is their capability for quality is just as high as their capability for quantity ever was, and it’s been that way for a little over a decade. Assuming the population problems don’t stress social issues too much, China is primed to be the next US.

  • Stellaris. I cheat and mod to put my empire in the middle of the galaxy and have extremely overpowered player-only technologies. Then I just explore the galaxy and guide the AI; usually picking a favorite and try to help them grow e.g. a peaceful uplifted species in a very hostile galaxy. I’ve also done this in multiplayer where I played a bit of a Game Master role. Built a quest line as part of my custom mod that had lore and let players slowly discover me and the galactic core (cut off from the hyperlane network; this was all custom scripted before mods like the birchworld existed on the workshop)

When I was a kid I would play driver 3 but I hated the driving part and would mostly walk. I also played a skateboard game and ditch the board, dress up like a spy or specops guy, and run around roleplaying various scenarios in my imagination (because I didn’t have any games at the time that would let me stealth or run on rooftops, which is all I wanted)

  • As the other reply explained, trans people can be closeted in the same sense as hiding their gender identity (as opposed to sexual orientation).

Since you sound genuinely curious, I’ll elaborate to answer your core question. Sex, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation are all distinct and independently variable (tho frequently correlated) dimensions.

As for orientation, it depends on your definition: whether you’re talking about sex or gender as the basis for sexuality. Of course this comes will all the familiar caveats of it not being a binary despite the dichotomy of hetero/homo terms implying such… Gender is what’s most applicable in a social context, so an FtM trans man who likes women would usually be classified as, and identify as, straight / heterosexual. If a trans man liked men, then gay / homosexual. But any combination of the various spectrums is possible.
