To do something like that you’ll need to introduce public housing, maybe nationalise blackrock? 💀

News@lemmy.world•Girl, 13, expelled for hitting classmate who made a deepfake porn image of her, lawyers say
2·2 months agoThe moral thing here is for that sexual assaulting scum to be expelled and criminally charged, and the girl defended.
That didn’t happen, the girl was punished the boy protected.
She did the right thing, pussyhole lad should’ve been beat far worse for his crime, if he wasn’t going to be properly punished.
There’s no morality in non-violence that allows violence to go unchecked. It was her last resort and it still isn’t good enough for you.
If she didn’t do that it would have continued and probably even gotten worse.
You’re right, it’s a growing problem all over.
Its the result of individualism, reinforced by suburbia, car-dependancy and social media.
US narratives dominate the western mindset and curtail revolutionary energy by incentivising selfishness over community.

News@lemmy.world•Mamdani's youth support goes beyond New York. For many, he's now a national leader
1·3 months agoSo if it wasn’t going to pass regardless of her vote, doesn’t that make it symbolically worse? Her vote had no real effect either way, despite that she chose to give ‘defensive weapons’ to a nation committing genocide.
Furthermore she barely does or says anything using her incredible momentum, especially since Pelosi gave her the talking to.
I’m not saying I dislike her, definitely a respectable figure, but don’t pretend it’s all purity test bullshit.
She folded her ambitions to the Democratic party elite, like most entryist candidates end up doing.
I don’t blame her, I blame the party elites and donors, but she isn’t immune from criticism… This isn’t a fucking sports team
I generally agree that bitch is a slur, the logic of censoring it IS consistent regardless of these opinions.
However, there are two types of racism and you are conflating the two. Don’t get me wrong, institutional racism is far more significant of an issue and victimises minority groups as you describe.
However interpersonal racism does not require societal or cultural context to be racism.
These people were assholes to you first but there is no need to be an asshole to random people just because they are not members of a minority group.
That is undeniably racism, whether the person is white in america or han Chinese in china.

2·7 months agoThe dems won’t learn, I didn’t say they will.
I am not saying that not voting for the dems is ‘fine’.
I’m talking about spending your energy appropriately.
I’m saying you can hate the ones who didn’t vote if you want, but it’s a waste of your energy. Voter apathy and disenfranchisement is the fault of the party, not the individual, is what I mean by the entitlement to the vote.
If there are the perpetrators (djt voters and the literal ghouls), the victim are necessarily the remaining group. Just because there were those disenfranchised, doesn’t mean those are the perpetrators, no they are also victims. Just like those who voted against it.
Usually, the party in power loses the election, rather than the opposition ‘winning’ per se on merit out right. They lose it by losing their support through their own actions, or public perception of their actions (which they should be trying to influence). So how did the dems lose 2024? Unless it was stolen which is, quite possible.
You know, like I know, the Dems won’t necessarily learn the right lessons from non voters. I’m not arguing the merit of not voting.
The Dems will only change when they rally around something they see as winning them support. But the only recent example of this, Zohran Mamdani who has huge public support, is being fought with more gusto by the majority of Democrats than they have ever fought DJT.
If the Dems had some policies that they held and didn’t compromise on, and didn’t show such obvious contempt for their constituents during the election season, maybe they would have done better. Not to mention not listening to the consultants who seemingly intentionally tanked their campaign.
Anyway, not here to argue, I don’t disagree with you, I read the other thread here after I left my comment and I agree with you on a lot. I just think if you should hold contempt and hate in your heart for anyone, it should be the perpetrators.
Because if you don’t hold them in contempt, but instead hold other victims in contempt (even if they didn’t vote or voted something silly), then you are essentially reinforcing the bad behaviour even further.
People aren’t motivated by ‘vote for us, we wont do anything tangible, but the other side is super bad’, as much as I would have hoped. They are far more motivated by ‘vote for us, we will do something tangible’ even if the one saying that is lying blatantly, as long as the vibe is confidence.

1·7 months agoI agree people should have voted kamala to prevent what’s happening now…
But for progression now, nothing about shaming the voters disenfranchised by the Democrats is worthwhile.
The Democrats were never entitled to any votes, they shouldn’t have been so conceited as to tank their own popularity with conceit in the interest of capital.
The ones who voted for trump are to blame in the immediate for sure, what’s happening right now in the US is tragic. But to be so myopic as to pretend that’s all that matters is foolish.

2·8 months agoBroski, how do you think gay people got rights?
How long ago did they march, gain acceptance widely… When did gay marriage become legal?
These things didnt happen that long ago, what do you mean ‘nothing’ came of these movements…
You simply miss perspective, surely?
In the last century, we got civil rights, women’s rights (to vote, to own a bank account, to divorce, to abort), gay rights and well…
You guys have started to lose some of those… But they happened within the last century, they were movements that were successful.
So clearly popular movements work and you need to readjust your expectations. These things are difficult and take time, you must win the hearts and minds before you can adjust the legislature.
Complying preemptively is how you lose everything and fascists win.

I will try out phtn.app as an alternative on desktop since I don’t browse Lemmy much outside of the apps.

News@lemmy.world•Elon Musk’s Biographer Warns Billionaire Is ‘Going Mad’ Due To ‘Combination Of Depression, Drugs And Stress’
1·10 months agoAs someone that abused Ketamine for years, it is so easy to be so caught up with delusions (especially those of grandeur, or that are fed into by your environment) especially if abusing in tandem with other drugs that reinforce such delusions like Cocaine.
But those delusions still don’t just manifest out of nothing, the stew that is Elon’s brain has been continually cooking under these circumstances, but mine was under similar and I am no Nazi.
I think it is likely the money, subsequent power and unwillingness to take on board criticism that leads him to be surrounded by sycophants that reinforce his growing mental illness.
Having our false perceptions of reality be reinforced will cause loss of touch with reality over long enough time frames, especially when our actions are devoid of material consequences, and certain stimuli just expedite the process.
Though that isn’t to say there isn’t a huge correlation between brain damage and conservative belief, and that excessive use of drugs such as Alcohol, Cocaine and Cocoethanol, Nitrous Oxide, Alcohol, PCP, Meth and Ketamine causes significant brain damage.
Guess just yapping but I see ketamine abuse in this case as something that would have made him hugely more susceptible for sure despite maybe not being the sole cause, as over a similar abuse time frame I also struggled with distortions of reality and occasionally mania - especially if stressed and combining with cocaine.
Actually fight against that rather than pretending too, Israel and Russia have destroyed the US from within far more than China… Maybe tackle the active objective threats rather than potential ones
