That’s my biggest problem with self-checkouts. There’s always a weird payment service provider behind them who wants to share whatever they can with their 3621 partners. I guess the same is true when you use anything but cash, including card payments at regular tills, but at least they give you the option to pay with cash. Self-checkouts usually don’t (but a few do!).
Some of my sunflowers are getting to the point where I can harvest their seeds. That’s super exciting because it’s my first time collecting seeds. This’ll sound very dumb, but until earlier this year, I thought sunflower seeds were a bit like apples and grew out of the little things that bees collect pollen from, but then I saw that the seeds grew underneath the pollen. I always thought I had seedless sunflowers. I’ll leave plenty of seeds for the birds, but growing sunflowers from seeds that I harvested myself sounds so cool, and I’m really looking forward to spring now.
You just need to add a thin layer plastic on the inside to prevent that from happening! Then it’s no longer plastic-free, but it’s still reusable and greatly reduces the amount of plastic needed compared to disposable cups.
My GP has an online tool to make appointments, and it’s great. I wouldn’t use it for genuinely private stuff because the company behind it is a bit shady, but booking an appointment to get vaccinated is generic enough for me to pick convenience over privacy. It’d be great if they could use open-source, privacy-respecting software, though.
It’s amazing how plants can recover from what looks like a major injury. Last year, I had a sunflower seedling in a small cup, and something bit off its head. Might’ve been a bug, or a bird, we’ll never know, but all that was left was a thin stem, just like in your photo. I kept watering it, and after a while, it started growing new leaves, then a second head, and although it was much smaller than the other sunflowers, it still bloomed.
“Ok, good.”
I’m kinda socially awkward, and this is what my dialogue skills were like five or six years ago, but someone running for vice president should maybe, idk, take a single decent public speaking class?
Animals and plants that glow like that are so cool! We live in such a magical world, and photos like this remind me that the magic starts right at our doorsteps.

My favourite part about growing flowers is when all the little pollinators show up and get their legs covered in pollen. I could watch them for hours :3
As the CEO of Linux, I’ve had long and intense discussions with Mr Musk about the future of the company if he were to buy it, and I have come to the conclusion that he is a very good and smart businessman. There is no doubt on my mind that our company will thrive under his competent leadership. The Linux Corporation™ is therefore proud to announce that we have decided to accept his gracious offer of 69 billion US dollars, payable in $100 Google Play gift cards.
I expected the original to make more sense, but they’re the same minus the cat. That’s kinda funny because most of the previous edits felt a lot more surreal compared to the originals, and this one breaks that trend. I really like that from an artistic point of view.
A while ago, I talked about Pokemon with someone and we were getting a bit nostalgic about Gen 1 games. We talked about how there were all these rumours, like using strength on that one truck near the S.S. Anne to get Mew. When I mentioned that you could actually get Mew with this one glitch where you had to avoid fighting a specific trainer until you got Fly, then walk into that trainer’s field of view and so on, they were so surprised because they had never heard of that before. I really enjoyed that conversation :3
Time being much faster yet much longer is exactly how I feel when I’m having fun. I might not notice how time passes (i.e. it’s much faster), but I can fill this time with so many positive emotions and memories that it feels like I spent days doing something because of the density of those feelings. When I’m bored, on the other hand, even an hour can feel like forever, but at the end of the day, there is nothing that I have accomplished, nothing to remember, so the entire day feels empty, as if it had never happened and the 24 hours of that day just poofed away.
“I just need to sit down, focus, skim a few chapters in this book, and take notes. It’ll take twenty minutes, maybe even less. Easy.”
stares at a blank document for ten minutes
“Let’s watch a one-hour video essay on a completely unrelated topic, maybe that’ll motivate me.” (it won’t)
That sounds lovely! Thank you for your insight, it’s already taught me something new (I didn’t know that woodchips prevent compaction, or that it was an issue in the first place). And if your garden looks this pretty in the winter, it must be absolutely stunning in the summer <3
Oh, I’m SO jealous because having a forest garden is my dream. Do you have to put in a lot of work to keep it in shape?
It might’ve been a black-light tattoo and she simply forgot to turn on her UV lamp.
How about a lovely family picnic in the cemetery, then?
The song they chant to transfer their soul into the object is actually pretty dope! I am a dwarf and I’m digging a hole, diggy, diggy hole. I’ll give it a shot when I’m dying, but I’ll make sure there aren’t any MLP toys around.
edit: turns out the song is actually based on a Minecraft clip! I guess this comic references the original clip, not the song, but it’s a good song nonetheless.
