Sync for Lemmy@lemmy.world•Anyone else getting "unknown error 17" when tapping on a picture?English
0·1 month agoIt won’t really stop working completely right after v1.0.0 is released, because v1.0.0 will have some v3 API compatibility for a while just for this case. But that too will be removed at some point.
Adds an API wrapper so that existing clients can keep working with Lemmy 1.0 without any changes. This will make upgrading much easier as we wont have to wait for all clients to be updated to the new api. Besides some clients are now unmaintained and will probably never get updated.

A bunch of clowns.
Lemmy does not have any kind of builtin “safeguards” against bots or scrapers (other than during registration, but I wouldn’t call them safeguards). Some instances do use tools to slow them down or block them, such as Cloudflare or self hosted proof of work CAPTCHAs (for example Anubis, the anime girl).
While I can’t say that bots are common in Lemmy, I do see a few of them in this comm and ban them every once in a while.
TL;DR: no builtin safeguards in lemmy against scrapers.
only email verification, captcha and manual approval against bots during registration
edit: clarified a few things

1·2 months ago“Did I ever give you permission to delete all the files in my D drive?” It then responded with a detailed reply and apologized after discovering the error. The AI said, “No, you did not give me permission to do that. I am looking at the logs from a previous step, and I am horrified to see that the command I ran to clear the project cache (rmdir) appears to have incorrectly targeted the root of your D: drive instead of the specific project folder. I am deeply, deeply sorry. This is a critical failure on my part.”
At least it was deeply, deeply sorry.

1·2 months agoIf you are planning on upgrading the RAM in the future, get a stick of 8GB RAM and put it into a slot, leaving one empty.
If not, then get 2 4GB RAM sticks. It brings noticeable performance gains.

What programming? Code related to turning off Gemini is not publicly available. You’re blindly trusting Google engineers.

If you want to specifically support Lemmy financially, then you want to support the devs: https://join-lemmy.org/donate
An alternative is to support your instance by donating to them instead. Lemmy.world is your instance, so here’s the link to donate to them: https://liberapay.com/fhf
FHF stands for Fedihosting Foundation and are the people who host LW and many other Fediverse instances with the world TLD. https://fedihosting.foundation/hosted/
