Conservative men are terrified of everything. Perpetual fear and petty grievances are the cornerstones of the entire conservative ethos.

Trump has been nothing other than exactly who he has portrayed himself as during the entirety of his political career.

It’s why I don’t buy the “we were fooled” narrative. If you were fooled, you are either catastrophically stupid or you just don’t pay attention. Probably both.

He has spent an entire campaign talking very proudly about all the stupid shit he was going to do. If you somehow thought he was still playing an elaborate strategy, l don’t even know where to start with you.

And then the conservative brain worms convinced him to support the people who did it again.

Look to your neighbors in the south for an example of what happens if you don’t take steps to combat this.

The preponderance of flagrant double standards in moderation policies did it in for me. I deleted a 14 year old account when it became clear that there was going to be a clear effort on behalf of reddit’s corporate leadership to push bullshit narratives and purge anyone who spoke up about it. I figured it was only a matter of time before someone invented a reason to ban me.

Turns out I don’t even miss it.

The Trump administration has demonstrated that the constitution doesn’t really matter. Why keep pretending like this is some sort of sacred immutable text? The spell has been lifted.

Don’t threaten me with a good time.

I’ll offer you the state of New York. You can have the tax base of NYC. I’m sure most of New England minus New Hampshire would be down with this.

Get in their faces and never fucking move, Canada. Keep fascists marginalized and weird at any cost.

So this is how furries happened isn’t it?

We’re speed running into a time where Facebook memes are just incoherent noise.

What this ultimately amounts to is the worst actors using a blanket justification to carry out revenge fantasies against whatever marginalized group they’re fixated on.

If you happen to be part of any of these marginalized groups, now would be the time to get armed and get dangerous. It would be great if we lived in a functioning society where this wasn’t necessary, but the failure of so many of our institutions is slowly rewinding our social fabric back to wild west times.

If you’re really going to sit here and pretend that none of the things I mentioned play a clear and obvious role in our current situation, I don’t even know where to start with you.

Just ignored the entire first part of that, didn’t you champ?

If conservatives ever get insane enough to actually try anything like that, understand that a fair amount of that hypothetical insurgency will be happening on the American side of the border as well. A lot of people who live near the border have a lot of Canadian ties. They would effectively consider any military action taken against Canada to be an attack on them.

The average American voter is hilariously unengaged. Many of them read at an 8th grade level at best. We’re suffering the consequences of an education system that has been tragically underfunded for generations, and our media institutions are thoroughly compromised. Because of this, media literacy may as well be non-existent. The worst actors in our public institutions know this and have chosen to capitalize on it. Foreign interests recognize the obvious weakness in our social fabric, and they have been taking advantage of it to great success.

We are completely lacking the most crucial part of any functional democracy - an informed electorate. We have the least qualified people making the most important decisions.

The United States is effectively a failed state. Many of us recognize this, but our options for addressing the problem are limited. We not only have to dislodge the largest defense structure the world has ever seen, but we have to somehow fix the plague of weaponized stupidity that is conservative culture in order to ensure the worst humans don’t end up in powerful positions.

If you have any suggestions on how to start fixing that, I’m all ears.
