Camelbeard@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Why Denmark is dumping Microsoft Office and Windows for LibreOffice and LinuxEnglish4·5 days agoYeah true, but these are more business to business. RHEL support is pretty expensive, and in my experience Oracle support (maybe not really open source) is both terrible and ridiculously expensive. Maybe this will create a market for more consumer like support. Maybe that could even create new business models for open source software.
Hottentottententententoonstelling in Dutch. It means hottentot tent exhibition
Camelbeard@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the modern design trends you hate most?221·10 days agoI have been a software tester for a long time and I really fuckin hate these JS frameworks that try to reinvent the wheel but worse.
Like why is a fucking table now a bunch of divs? Why is a drop down (select) list a bunch of divs? With disappearing html blocks when you close the list?
HTML worked fine, why are we reinventing basic HTML but worse?
Camelbeard@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the modern design trends you hate most?201·10 days agoWe use gitlab and I knew my coworker commited something yesterday, I deployed a new version yesterday but I wasn’t sure if I deployed before or after his commit. Why do they just show yester instead of a normal timestamp. Do these developers think we can’t read?
Camelbeard@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the modern design trends you hate most?48·10 days agoEverything is a fucking service! NO, I don’t want to spend 2.99 every month on a app that reminds me to take a pill.
Even hardware products that basically are scrap metal if you don’t pay a monthly fee.
This I remember, also askjeeves, dogpile or something (I think it searched like 30+ different search engines and combined the results)
Or and I know this sounds crazy, we (I actually mean you) collectively agree on laws that gives everyone a couple of paid vacation weeks a year.
Exactly, maybe the person who wrote it thinks its a programming language, maybe machine language is defined as a language that can be interpreted by a machine.

I have been using Linux for 20 years now, as a main OS for at least 15. Linux isn’t perfect in any way and I have fucked up my system many times. But in those 20 years I maybe have felt to need to ask for help 2 or 3 times, because al the other 999 times with some searching I found someone with the same problem and a solution. When you ask for help for something that can be found with 3 minutes of searching I totally understand people don’t feel the need to help you out.
Maybe it actually said fun instead of fkn
I know a way to make alcohol free vodka. Its pretty cheap too.
“Anything that was on TV in Europe back when the American cartoon market was dominated by Hanna-Barbera and Filmation, and their uninspired crap.”
As a kid I did enjoy Dunderklumpen! but I don’t think it holds up pretty well
But I guess whoever bullied you was another kid doing it over and over? Not a teache that made you cry during a school trip one day.
Also this is against a former teacher, maybe he was a terrible kid and the teacher got mad at him for a reason.
It’s basically whataboutism
No you’re thinking of luchables, fungible is when you catch a Gible and he’s loads of fun. Keep looking in the grassy areas.
Pro Rights would be better, it should not be just a choice it should be a human right.
Only slightly, the majority of Russians support the war and so do leaders that would take over.
