But they’ll have stragglers just the same as any major social media site. Even though many here have standards they won’t easily abandon, there are scores of people that won’t even know if/when AI started being used on the site or would care enough to leave if they did.
Plus every time we leave a platform we need to find or build a new one. The time it takes to get others to migrate and develop into a worthwhile community is hard to predict and it may not even work out. It sucks social media is such shit anymore, but it seems inevitable that it will remain that way given the landscape of the Internet at this point.
I say this as someone who’s drifted from Fark to Digg to Reddit to Lemmy over the past 20-25 years 🎈 (zero loyalty as well)
They don’t care where the money comes from, and at this point they know there’s no cost to their reputation for doing shit like this either.
It certainly does 😐 unbelievable how easily people can be led to voting so acutely against their own interests while enabling the very worst things they fear.
I was reading an article Ed Zitron recently wrote about the post-election state of affairs and one big takeaway i got was the lack of accountability by our media has got to be one of the keys here. By that i mean you rarely ever see push-back or follow-up questions pressing harder for a real answer. We know why that happens to some degree (mainstream media is owned by the billionaires plus journalists don’t want to be un-invited from future engagements) but among the long-term effects is that we have an unbelievably misinformed populous that’s angry for good reasons but is actually voting for the people most responsible for their suffering.
There’s so much more to it than just that, of course. I will say it’s nice to see people on both sides of the aisle agree on the need for abortion rights though. It’s fucking absurd it’s gotten to this point in the first place. I remember reading a report on the morning of election day about a young woman who died in Texas recently because she was denied an abortion after miscarrying and ultimately died. I was naively optimistic the rest of the nation was on board to put an end to that kind of shit. At least most states are not completely batshit (yet?! I have no idea where all this is leading now)
Well damn, i rescind my shit-hole statement for Missouri. Guess you really can’t paint an entire state by the way they vote ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
No surprises here–just the depressing, disgusting truth. Where are most of these homicides taking place? I’m glad you asked! From the article:
“Using violent death reports compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2018 to 2021, the researchers found there was a significant risk ratio for being murdered by an intimate partner in states with barriers to finalizing divorce while pregnant. Arkansas, Missouri and Texas currently have such restrictions.”
Shit-hole states?! (Credit where it’s due–Missouri and Arkansas will allow for an abortion in the case of a medical emergency, so at least they’re not Texas-level insane…) Thank god i was reading this near my fainting couch. I never would have guessed they would protect rapists from having their illegitimate offspring aborted!
But wait–that’s not all:
“Rates were also higher in states that require a waiting period or parental consent and notification for an abortion. That’s a particular concern since it’s estimated that 18% of rape-related pregnancies are perpetrated by a family member, the researchers wrote.”
Well, i think that’s about enough Internet for today 😶
Lol no
(I imagine this is the response by the average voter at this point)
Well, what do you need then?
Any chance you have any suggestions for any “buy it for life” items from your own experience?
No prob! Just here to not help
He’s gonna age really gracefully, somehow i can see it already lol
Sounds cool!! Good luck with the project! EMI is one of those things I’d never even consider until i got way into a project like that, then have to reverse course and try a new approach with that in consideration. Gotta learn somehow though, lol!
Holy shit I’m 1000% with you, my jaw dropped when it was confirmed by the report of an inmate being “beaten to the point of full body paralysis” 😶
Nobody can stop him–if that’s his desire, he will have it that way. We’re about to see how eccentric a billionaire can get, we’re probably not even scratching the surface yet. $35 mill seems like chicken scratch though, with his kind of wealth I’d drop $5 billion and see what kind of compound that gets ya lol
Watcha soldering? Anything fun?
Tbh goes both ways
Lol, i thought you were about to say Tyson was also about to fight a living legend 🤣
Isn’t that often the way, strangely enough? I’ve seen people actually at their best during the worst of situations… I never saw as much unity around here since we got nailed by Superstore Sandy back in 2012. It’s a shame that’s what it seems to take to get people to see each other as fellow humans, but it’s proof that there’s more humanity than I’ve suspected/expected from people.
That might just be what the future looks like, perhaps some sort of tribalism will return. People pooling resources to counter all the rising expenses and diminishing availability of worthwhile goods
She does, somehow. At 27 years of age her estimated worth is apparently around $710,000,000
The trump admin couldn’t be bothered to keep the children and parents together while caging immigrants last time–why would anyone expect him to differentiate the legals from the illegals?
