I guess an hour just isn’t a long time to me, I don’t have a lot of time to play games so I tend to plan ahead. I use the PS app to download games to my console remotely. With the numbers you’re saying, are you really suggesting that you’ve got something like 20-40 games that you need to be able to play at a moment’s notice? I’m honestly not trying to criticise I just can’t relate.
I’m not going to defend the Pro exactly, but out of curiosity what is your usecase for needing so much storage on a console? Multiple users? Bad Internet? I feel like I have a max of 1-3 active games at a time, and can just delete and download/install them as needed. Works just fine for me so I feel like something else must be going on.
I wouldn’t say this matches my experience. I’ve used LLMs to improve my understanding of a topic I’m already skilled in, and I’m just looking to understand something nuanced. Being able to interrogate on a very specific question that I can appreciate the answer to is really useful and definitely sticks with me beyond the chat.
I think people are overselling it. Typical British tea isn’t amazing and it isn’t trying to be. It’s more like a simple slice of bread and butter when you’re feeling peckish but there’s nothing else to eat. It just hits the spot. Once you’ve acquired the taste, you experience it differently. Spend an hour walking home in the rain, get home and change into your jammies, then curl up on the sofa with a nice cuppa. Then it’s amazing.

Uggggggghhhhhh another one for the pile. I love Chromecasts but to be fair the latest one with Google TV was a sign that things were getting shitty soon. 22% more CPU for a YouTube machine? Who cares? A home hub that needs my TV to work? Who cares? It’s like the tech industry regrets putting everything on your phone and now they want to separate it out again. Fuck off.
Yeah I got one of the newer ones after having a ton of the earlier models and I was disgusted by that change. Instantly returned it and bought one of the discontinued Ultras for 4K.
Not really a part of this conversation but I just wanted to say that I literally do subscribe to all these statements lol. I try to reduce harm where I can, and not playing a game made by Blizzard is so easy.
Now imagine if they weren’t your only child.
We need to know! Using GitHub at the moment and this is driving me fucking wild.
There are actually things websites can do which may be more common than you’d think. At a high level you could convert all the custom colours to HSV format and slightly lower the value and saturation according to some function. This is fairly common for images.
No word feels great which is pretty sad considering how many child-friendly euphemisms there are for a penis. With my daughter we try to emulate the same vibe as ‘willy’ combined with some anatomical accuracy by using the word ‘vulvy’. Sounds gross to many, makes sense to others. Your mileage may vary haha.
I believe we have it for tax allowance, where say if your partner doesn’t work, you can add their tax free allowance to yours. I think that’s it though.
Similarly in the UK going over £80k in income prevents you from claiming child benefit, and going over £100k makes you ineligible for a host of other benefits. A salary bump from 99k to 100k would be very expensive for you if had young children.
Stupidly though, a married couple each earning £99k would be able to use all benefits, but a couple where one earns £101k and the other £20k would lose out.
This as exactly my thought. It’s not crazy to imagine this when I know for a fact systems exist in supermarkets to calculate optimal prices in different stores, based on the size of the store, the demographics of the area it’s in etc
Jumping on this to second it and also be shamelessly elitist. Factorio is the automation game. Nothing tops it. You may think other games look more beautiful, exciting, or engaging, but they are not. Factorio is also one of the cheaper automation games out there with one of the best developers in the industry. Definitely give it a go!
Laser tag is actually the best option.
Unpopular opinion but I can be this way and I honestly hate games for it. I’m a big Last of Us fan but I despise how you’re supposed to have this cutthroat realistic adventure but at every junction they just goade you into picking the obvious route that goes against the narrative. There’s no reason to follow that path except the meta element that you know there’s going to be some bullshit coin there. And if you maintain the atmosphere and ignore it, at the end of the level in some games you’ll get a whiny ‘oops! You only got 4/8 coins you dipshit!’ that makes you feel like you’re not playing the game right.
The flag patriotism and intense praise of military action was a lot for me. I remember going to a mall, and seeing what would typically be reserved as disabled parking was instead veteran parking?? And then the cinema in the mall loudly advertising its discount for veterans as well. We do have a general discount in my country too, but it’s not so… intense. Like no one else has to know it’s happening because it’s more of a state benefit than it is a form of patriotism.
Neighbourhoods in general are what I found the strangest when I stayed in the States. Flags everywhere as you say, but also just the intense size, and the lack of walkability (the kurb drops felt massive compared to my country). Beyond that I remember walking for around 20 minutes through a suburb and counting upwards of 10 different company logos on rubbish bins. This neighbourhood seemingly had 10 different bin days rather than one centralised service.
