1·11 months agoI didn’t like Prophet Song either. The mother character’s inability to do anything kinda bogged the whole story down for me.
Same for me
I mean games, tv, movies all have some sort of rating system so you don’t really have to spend a lot of time reviewing the content for your kids. Seems like a gap that this doesn’t exist for books.

World News@lemmy.ml•Julian Assange Free on Bail, Departs UK for Australia!
71·1 year agoCredit to the Australian members of parliament who haven’t let this go:
[Prime Minister Anthony] Albanese has said he raised the matter directly with the US, including with the president, Joe Biden, during his visit to Washington in October 2023.
In February this year, Albanese and cabinet members supported a motion put forward by independent MP Andrew Wilkie urging the UK and US to allow Assange to return home to Australia.
The attorney general, Mark Dreyfus, said he also raised the matter with his US counterpart, Merrick Garland, during a meeting in January this year.
Beach Read by Emily Henry. Both protagonists are authors.

2·2 years agoThe kindle fee is 13.99 aud/month for me which is pricy by my standards. The library however is totally free but it doesn’t have every book I want. So it’s either wait for a physical copy at the library, just buy it outright, or take it off the reading list.

8·2 years agoI tried KU for a month or two but I couldn’t find enough good books to read to justify the cost. Instead I just got a digital library subscription and read on my phone/tablet.
Mass produced Knick knacks. Those useless ornaments that just seem to accumulate on bookshelves, fireplaces and cabinets.

What’s the feeling in Canada? This guy good enough to win the election?
