  • I’ve been doing this for well over 20 years now and I taught myself by building Geocities sites and random stuff.

Just build things and push them to a repo. Have an idea for something? build it. could just be something like a TUI for Mastodon or like an eReader with AI driven text to speech, I don’t know i’m just spit balling here but my point is you just have to build stuff. It’s like anything, the more you do it, the better you get at it. Like drawing. you just draw something every day and eventually you get good. it’s the same for coding. just work on something every day and you’ll get good at it.

So just build something or contribute to your favourite open source project.

  • I mean lets face it the only reason Carney won was because of what Trump said. that’s it. We Canadians are honestly pretty dumb when it comes to politics and we sure do love our sound bites. Remember PP had this thing in the bag until Trump opened his mouth and then suddenly we all said “oh yeah…yeah we don’t want that lets vote for the guy that kinda isn’t that” while the NDP “here’s Singh, sure he doesn’t have a single original thought in his head but…yeah it’s the best we can do”

Like our choices were unoriginal man, nazi man, or none of the above man.

on my main laptop for whatever reason Windows 11, about twice a year or so, would insist on killing my wifi. Just out right disable it and not even uninstalling and reinstalling drivers would work. It would simply just kill it and pretend it never existed. the ONLY fix was to completely reinstall the OS. so almost like clockwork twice a year I’d have to reinstall the OS. It was also absolutely destroying the battery on my laptop. I would get MAYBE 30min out of it.

So after reading some threads I decided to give Linux a go. I went nuclear winter on it and didn’t even bother dual booting, just wiped the computer completely and started with Mint. Stayed on that for a couple weeks until I completely messed up the install by trying to modify cinnemon a bit too much so then I switched to CachyOS and fell in love with it.

Since then I distro hopped a few times and I’m currently using NixOS. As far as the battery issue? I get about 4 hours out of it now instead of 30min.

  • stopped using Amazon when they switched to Bluetooth lockers that can ONLY be opened via their shitty amazon app. Prior to that? was easy and the lockers were great. either enter the code you get emailed or scan the barcode and boom locker opens. NOW you need to have the amazon app which tries to connect to the locker via bluetooth. It’s hit or miss. I don’t want to use your amazon app, I just want my stuff. The thing doesn’t even work most of the time. I remember once I was waiting in line to pick up my package and of the 5 people standing in line with me at the locker 3 of them couldn’t get the locker to open. Contact customer service? it’s a known issue…
