Because its effort. We have to get the average person to care about their security and privacy before they will bother using these alternatives. It’s much easier for them to download a popular one off an app store and have the data stick with them, than it is to download f-droid, find the right app, make sure its still supported and setup their own data backup.
Yeah it definitely needed some way to make it less random the further you got (more than it already did). The rng ended up just being a time waste.
I miss websites with simple text, links and graphics. We could navigate them perfectly fine without any JS, any dropdowns or whatever. They just displayed the information you came for, nothing extra.

Ah, Hyperspace, it’s come a long way since it was called that. It’s a fun game, works flawlessly on Linux too with Proton.

Mbin is a fork and continuation of /kbin, but community-focused.
Kbin was destined to fail without opening up to community collaboration. I greatly preferred it over lemmy. So I will stick with Mbin now and Kbin.earth has been a small but nice Mbin instance.

+1 for Endeavour if you basically want easy to install Arch with the very minimal preinstalled.
There’s CachyOS too if you want a few more tweaks OOTB.

DnD works great for table top, but it is a poor system for a video game. If you play solo, then the first act is quite enjoyable. I haven’t played past that alone, I have only finished the game with friends. And my god is it boring by the end, you wait for your turn, make 1 action, enemy makes a saving throw, now you gotta wait 20 minutes for your next turn. So basically the same as your frustration, just amplified.
All the fun and interesting spells require spell slots (or have use limits) which means you have to long rest after every fight in order to use them really, but then you lose buffs you might have and your friends might not be ready to rest. It’s so limiting. The fights just become slogs rather than something to look forward to.
DOS2s combat was way more engaging and fun, you could use any spell without worrying about not being able to in the next fight, you had way more fun spells and combos, you could do multiple things per turn, it was so much better for a video game. I wish they never took on DnD and BG3 instead was a great follow-up to DOS2. We will see what they do next I guess. Hopefully they fix the fucking camera at the least.
Oh this is something I will have to try, the combat was the weakest part of BG3.
I don’t who is buying Intel at the moment. The Ryzen CPUs are just too good. AMDs socket support is far superior too.
If people play, it becomes popular, which attracts more players, which attracts spending. Even if you spend $0, you are still supporting the type of game it is by playing it.
It’s not going anywhere until people stop playing the games.

I see some servers with hardly any, some with lots, the cat ears are popular. It depends on the communities you look in. Obviously the majority use Discord completely free, but there’s a significant amount of Nitro subscribers and a good portion of them are also buying things in the shop.
People are not researching privacy conscious apps and typing it in. Drip isn’t even remotely close to being among the top results for a period tracker. That’s the point, the average person prefers convenience over privacy these days.
