For me KonoSuba, TenSura and Mushoku Tensei are a given, but what about you guys?
For reference for others, here is a list of all the anime for spring tagged isekai (and don’t forget Tsukimichi is continuing from last season).
The shows I plan on at least checking out would be:
- Konosuba - definitely watching this. Love this show. I am also reading the LNs right now.
- Tsukimichi - continuing this show
- 7th Prince - Going to check this one out. I have read a good ways into the manga and am interested to see how the art comes across in the adaptation
- Level 2 Cheat - Going to check this one out as well. I am up to date on the manga for this series and it is a pretty cute, isekai romance. This story has all the trappings of a power fantasy, but I think it is best as a romance. I could take or leave the power fantasy parts.
- Aristocrat with an Appraisal Skill - Another series I am up to date with the manga for. I am willing to give this a try, but it isn’t one of my favorites, so I will likely end up dropping it if the adaptation doesn’t blow me away in some way.
Shows I might be willing to try:
- Re: Monster - I have read a bunch of this manga, but ended up dropping it because it became more and more generic as it went. An example of a story that had a pretty well thought out beginning, but it became clear that the author is just wandering the isekai trope wilderness now. Might pick this up if I see a lot of great things about the adaptation, but I definitely wouldn’t intend on going past the first season.
- The New Gate - I don’t really know anything about this one, but have seen manga readers saying good things. So, I will be willing to give it a try depending on time this season.
- Salad Bowl - I really don’t know anything about this one, but it looks kind of nuts. Perhaps a bit random, like Sasaki and Peeps was this past season. So, if this one has some good buzz after a couple episodes, I might give it a shot.
Forgot about Lv2 kara Cheat! That’s another “must watch”.
What concerns me about Re:Monster is that they seem to be rushing the adaptation quite a bit, based on the trailer.
I really, really tried to like 7th Prince. I don’t know why it didn’t “click” with me.
7th Prince is a bit of a mess of a story. I kept coming back to it though because the manga artist would occasionally go nuts with the art (in a good way). The whole series just slowly transformed into an art showpiece. So, I am curious to see how they will translate the crazy art of the manga into animation.
