False dichotomy. You can be amazing and happy and content…and still want to improve yourself.

Uusally too much hopium and copium, like most takes are extremely simplistic so they end up being ‘everything will be ok’ as a solution to everything, leading to conformism instead of actually giving (me) hope.
To me hope is not believing that ‘everything will be ok’ in a world where everything (for me) keeps getting worse (at any scale, not just globaly), something that gives me some hope is that by enduring the pain of exercising I can delay the heart problems that run in my family and keeping my body from getting worse, it’s not a solution, it’s not permanent, things won’t get better, it won’t give me a job… but it’s something concrete that I can do, not just ‘don’t worry’ as a solution.

I am making memes mostly for myself with very specific message: “Things are bad, but they will be better” I am making them to change my thinking patterns. I am leaving the “Why?” as an exercise for the reader. In my opinion taking hopium changes the thinking and perception so that one is able to discover hope in their actual lives.

For me I bought a Blåhaj last week as a symbol that I have money to spend on a thing that I want and not that I need to survive. That plush shark gives me hope but it won’t give you hope so I generalize the messages in the memes.

Also I feel like “look at me and my life. I have made it!” In wholesome communities is insensitive as it doesn’t acknowledge the bad things that some reader is living through right now.

Exercising doesn’t only delay heart problems. It creates opportunities for the future. It makes you a bit more attractive, create opportunities to meet people at the gym, create a habit to build upon, it is a way to process emotions.

Perception is very important as humans can easily fall into cognitive biases that are hard to come out of.

For me it takes on a slightly different tint. God I’m a wanker (wish to change), but I’m also a lazy shit and won’t change (acceptance).

Do you wish you weren’t a lazy shit?

You can’t even make real improvements until you accept who you are. Trying to improve without accepting your current situation creates a self improvement debt that’ll catch up to you and undermine your work.
