Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday that Ukraine would have to make concessions over land that Russia had taken since 2014 as part of any agreement to end the war.

Mr. Rubio spoke as he was flying to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for talks with senior Ukrainian officials, and 10 days after a contentious White House meeting between President Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky. The Trump administration halted military aid to Ukraine after the blowup, which centered on Mr. Trump’s refusal to include any security guarantees in a proposed deal involving Ukraine’s natural resources.

Since apparently countries can negotiate on behalf of other countries, I propose Ukraine cedes Alaska and Hawaii to Russia in exchange for getting its territory back. If Russia drives an hard bargain I would even give them back Fort Ross, California.

Rubio is telling every other country that if they want a piece of America, all they have to do is invade and he’ll be happy to give up some land.

Perhaps since Rubio represents a country which does not border Ukraine, doesn’t really trade with Ukraine, and is not supporting Ukraine with its military, he should STFU. As a matter of fact, why is he even involved? I don’t see Australia or Brazil “heading to talks with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia”.

I don’t see this as him making a demand but rather stating a fact. They’re not getting back all of the occupied territories, and that has been obvious to anyone observing this conflict from an objective point of view. I’d love to see the Russians kicked out of all of Ukraine just as much as the next person, but that simply isn’t going to happen. Nobody wants to give up their life just to reclaim a few more square meters - especially when there’s no guarantee of even that.

Russia’s economy is a war time economy. Everything is transitioned over to war. Even if Russia got everything it demanded today, the war would not end. Why? Because Russia is not prepared and is not willing to dismantle their war-time economy and switch it back to a normal peace-time economy.

Russia is obviously untrustworthy as they break deals and promises all the time (which is how we are here, in war right now). But even if Russia was trustworthy, any peace accord that does not include a roadmap for Russia to renormalize their economy would be a temporary ceasefire at best.

Amazing how far a 3.6% GDP country can get with Assets, Sharp Power, and Chekist attitude alone.

Rubio is a jellyfish. What a coward.

Making a peace deal right now equals to have Putin’s Russia win the war. This is not acceptable. We have to keep supporting Ukraine and prepare for war against Russia, without the US. Trump and his sbires are going to continue to be insufferable day after day, let’s cut them out of the discussions and focus. Democracy and freedom are under attack in Europe, this is what we have to worry about.

We know that the USA aren’t our friends but this constant humiliation is unnecessary and useless.

We have done nothing wrong to the US.

I’m not sure about that, I feel like the image of America now is it’s true image. A culture of pawns ignorant or arrogant, priveleged and blind to reality, probably due to the favorite pass time of consumerism of bullshit everything. Their escapism from reality like junkies. Americans made the America we are living in and are all to blame. Americans are an embarrassment to authentic and genuine human life.

I am American. I have the qualities I just spoke of too, it’s indoctrined in us, it is the image, the brand of America to be this way.

          Yes, and that’s embarrassing.

A culture of pawns ignorant or arrogant

I find that it’s “ignorant and arrogant” not an “or”. The two usually come together in my experience.
