I think this situation shouldn’t change much for the community itself as scanlation was and is piracy in the end. Since the vast majority of the submissions here linked to MD, all of those posts would break the piracy rule. That said, I won’t protest to any changes decided upon by the mods or instance owner.

Personally, I think we should start looking for safe (as in, malware free) alternatives that can be used in place of MD as it’s pretty obvious many series will not be updated there anymore and I doubt a community focused only on legal sources will survive in any meaningful capacity.

I dunno, maybe I’m just looking at it with too much pessimism but I can’t say I ever had a great experience with an official source. Decent? Sure, but nothing that would make me want to use them if there’s an alternative. And lets not forget about the loss of all the series that aren’t available legally.

So yeah, TL;DR: we all participated in piracy already, this situation doesn’t change that.
