Shit where do you work man? I need to get me one of those jobs, because, while I just keep to my own life, it seems the same shit goes on, because the assholes never really grow up. They just age. No matter where you go.

So many games that I even upvoted that are still absolutely amazing haven’t really aged perfectly control- or gameplay-wise, but Oddworld could be released today and it would still be perfect.
johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•An old ad for the Wavebird controller for GamecubeEnglish1·7 months agoAnd I’m talking about a bath mat/rug. As clearly shown in the picture. I’m not a 100%, but I don’t think they use the kind of glued on whole floor carpet anywhere outside the US because it’s just crazy. Carpet elsewhere is just normal carpets/rugs, like sane people use.
johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•An old ad for the Wavebird controller for GamecubeEnglish4·7 months agoYes? And how prominently do bathroom floors feature in the media you consume? It’s not like this is some outlandish concept lmao

I mean, you can definitely make recorders with multiple chambers. Check out native American flutes - lots of which are essentially recorders. Just search for double flute or drone flute on YouTube.

People would rather see the artists they love starve if it gave them convenience to enjoy their art without actually paying for what they do.
It’s honestly kind of baffling to see people go up in arms enough to side with fucking Disney “in support of artists” because AI is supposedly stealing from them and the same people go on with their lives and put on Spotify and feel self-righteous. People fucking suck.

johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto Movies and TV Shows@lemmy.film•What shows had awkward or otherwise poor returns from cancelations?English1·2 years agoI’m glad someone enjoyed it! I don’t think I could cringe as much watching a show as when I was watching that. I’d rather watch Dawson’s Creek or something. There were a lot of elements that could’ve made it great, but it just really felt horrible watching it the whole time. In comparison the weird X-Files reboot was at least kind of fun, Dexter was like watching a trainwreck to me.
johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto Movies and TV Shows@lemmy.film•What shows had awkward or otherwise poor returns from cancelations?English9·2 years agoNo-one’s mentioned Dexter yet, so I’m gonna go ahead and do that. What a shit show. I really don’t get why they brought it back from the dead. Sure the original ending was kind of shitty, but it wasn’t that bad they had to revive it and kill it for good.

Subscribed to hundreds of communities and blocked even more and I was seriously considering adding and blocking everything manually to another account on another instance. Thank god I was lazy with that.
johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto Science Fiction@lemmy.world•What are you Watching? (August 2023)1·2 years agoHave you seen the Futurama movies? I didn’t even know they existed until this year and I’m trying to decide whether I should see the movies before starting the new season.
johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto Science Fiction@lemmy.world•What are you Watching? (August 2023)2·2 years agoI’m going through TOS (nearing the end of season 2) and have been wondering whether I should watch the animated series, leaning on skipping it entirely, is it worth watching? I’m all for animation, but tbh a lot of american animation has left me disappointed.
johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto Science Fiction@lemmy.world•What are you Watching? (August 2023)51·2 years agoI tried to read Asimov (by recommendation of my grandpa) as a kid and even though I was big into really heavy, dry philosophy and philosophical books I couldn’t get through any of his books - if you watch Foundation without expecting a great adaptation of the books (which in and of itself would be quite an achievement which I doubt we’ll ever see) it is a pretty great scifi show in my opinion. Certainly piqued my interest in finally reading the books even if it’s nothing like the show, but then again I don’t expect adaptations to be exact replicas of the original work and find that very difference enjoyable.

Much easier and sensible IMO than whatever the hell this headache is.
Greg does the best impression of Wiseau ever. You can find him read the whole book. It’s hilarious
Ooooh I completely forgot Primer!
Lol, haha, I never thought about that. I used to watch a shit-ton of movies as a teen. Got into horror movies, David Lynch and weird stuff early on so I kind of dove into the deep end very early and with no social life there was a lot of time to watch a lot of stuff.
I seem to be having a phase where I don’t really watch movies that much (series more than ever), but when I do it’s usually kind of “comfort food” so I’m mostly watching all-time favorites over and over again.
johnthebeboptist@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What movie did you rewatch most often?81·2 years agoThe Thing,
Naked Lunch,
Evil Dead 1 & 2,
The Big Lebowski,

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,
Lost Highway & Mulholland Drive,
The Fountain, Pi, The Holy Mountain, El Topo, Princess Mononoke, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Big Trouble in Little China, The Wicker Man (the og)
And I probably watched Donnie Darko and Ichi the Killer enough times as a teen that they both reach the top
God I watch a lot of movies still.

Sure, but there is a difference letting one corporation overpower the market and supporting a national or even international business.
We got Taco Bell some years back where I live and suddenly all the actually good places died, and sure, some of them were genuine local businesses instead of just corporate chsins, but I’d much rather support anything other than some American super corporation, get a shittier product that’s more expensive, just because they have the money to push their shitty product more than some smaller, albeit corporation shit.
Most American super corporations have enough influence and power as it is. Nothing wrong if we get some competition and variety. Lesser of two evils you know.
