I didn’t realize that this was like a Fibonacci-esque situation. That’s a lot of birds.
I only learned this recently because my wife and I watched a Christmas movie where this fact was a major plot point haha.
I also watched that movie yesterday. It was bad.
It’s definitely not as good as some Christmas movies I’ve watched recently but I wouldn’t say Candy Cane Lane was bad.
I wouldn’t say it was good though…
I know nothing about that movie except what is on the poster.
So I’m guessing the plot revolves around Eddie Murphy being paid a lot of money to make films he doesn’t want to be in. His eyes just look like somebody has hollowed him out.
Dolomite Is My Name was really good, and genuinely seemed to be the first thing since Coming To America that he looked like he wanted to be in, but it appears his career is in the toilet again.
Well, I guess I gotta know what movie this is now
Yes, it’s Candy Cane Lane.
Candy Cane Lane, probably
Of course she’s mad.
According to the first result in Google, the last line is repeated, so you missed one.
1+3+6+10+10+16+23+23+23+23+23+24=185
That seems like a very minor nitpick to get mad about.
Oh buddy he’s pissed
The total number of birds is actually only 23:
7 swans 6 geese 4 calling birds 3 French hens 2 turtledoves 1 partridge
But each day repeats the previous days birds
I never thought of each day including a completely new set of all the previous ones.
I always assumed it was just a recap. Why would you keep giving someone the same thing over and over?
It’s also a theory that all days are about birds https://blog.mybirdbuddy.com/post/the-twelve-days-of-christmas
It’s the only interpretation of the song that makes any sort of sense. Which brings the total up to 364.
78 birds in total. They’re all birds
First day of Christmas: 1 partridge in a pear tree
Second day of Christmas: 2 turtledoves
Third day of Christmas: 3 French hens
Fourth day of Christmas: 4 calling birds (blackbirds)
Fifth day of Christmas: 5 golden rings (pheasants)
Sixth day of Christmas: 6 geese a-laying
Seventh day of Christmas: 7 swans a-swimming
Eighth day of Christmas: 8 maids a-milking (magpies or cattle egret)
Ninth day of Christmas: 9 ladies dancing (lapwings)
Tenth day of Christmas: 10 lords a-leaping (cuckoos)
Eleventh day of Christmas: 11 pipers piping (sandpipers)
Twelfth day of Christmas: 12 drummers drumming (ruffled grouse)
Looks good honestly.
Looks like a fucking graveyard
“Could you pass me the pigeon please?”

you okay, babe? you’ve barely touched the 184 birds I gave you over the course of the 12 days of christmas
I never got why people always think the singer gave all the gifts each day. I always took it as they were just listing all the stuff the singer got them over these past days.
