Last week started with the advancement ceremony and the fellowship gatherings. Hildebrand is once again overseeing the academy this year. We are introduced to Lady Gentiane, a new first year archduke candidate from Klassenberg. Murrenreue of Immerdink confronts Rozemyne on rumors of her joining the Sovereign Temple, but is rebuffed. The Dedication Ritual is decided to take place on Earthdays starting with the archnobles and archduke candidates.

Classes begin at the Royal Academy and once again Ehrenfest does well with their written lessons. The first year students are registered at the library where it is learned that Hortensia is ill and will not be returning anytime soon. Rozemyne is concerned when a music professor requires her to give a blessing during her recital. In professor Hirshur’s class, Rozemyne is embarrassed to learn the primary use of synchronization potions not previously explained by Ferdinand. She commits a social faux pas in regards to her previous experience with mana resistance. Rozemyne meets with Eglantine after class. She expresses concern that something unexpected might occur during the Dedication Ritual. They also discuss Ehrenfest’s position on the forced joint research with Klassenberg.

Rozemyne seems convinced something will occur during the Dedication Ritual. Do you agree? If so, what do you predict will happen? Any other predictions for this week’s story?

Considering how nobody else sees the gigantic magic circle hovering above the academy, I think that whatever will happen during the ceremony will only be noticable to herself too, so at least it won’t cause a commotion, as long as she can keep from freaking. ^^

That being said, I expect Immanuel to make a nuisance of himself in one way or the other again. It’s a bit of a shame we won’t get to see the other two rituals and how well Wilfried and Charlotte are going to do in leading them, or at least not until the end of the book, where it might be in a side story chapter. Guess we’ll have to settle for them telling us in some meeting afterwards.

It’s possible that it’ll be like the shines she visited during the archduke conference where it wasn’t apparent to anyone else that something had occurred. It’s also possible that it could be like Detlinde’s dedication whirl where Rozemyne could see the magic circle, but no one else could until Detlinde’s mana started to be absorbed by it. Considering the enormous amount of mana involved in the dedication ritual it definitely could end up being used to activate the magic circle.

Completely agree on Immanuel being annoying or even causing problems. That guy is too creepy shudder 😓

Come to think of it though, the royal did say they’d try to squeeze some shrine visits and prayers into their year and Eglantine already had one tablet last winter. I wonder if she might be able to see a bit more than any of the other nobles. She didn’t mention anything about seeing the circle to Rozemyne, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she can’t see it. She might be keeping it to herself for one reason or the other, or have been ordered not to tell Rozemyne by one of the princes or the king.

And I can immediately think of one potential reason: If Rozemyne learned that Eglantine was close to obtaining the Grutrissheit too, she’s probably try to wriggle out of the adoption. But the royal family has a lot to gain from having Rozemyne among them. So I would not put it past them to make sure that the adoption and engagement to Sigiswald are through and done, before Eglantine makes a “surprising” breakthrough in her obtaining of the Grutrissheit. Then again… if they could choose between the future wife of the future king getting the holy book or the wife of the king’s brohter, they might choose to have Rozemyne get the bible after all.

I’m wondering if Ferdinand could see the magic circle himself. I kind of feel like maybe he had visited all the shrines back when he was a student. Since he attended the Royal Academy all year to avoid Veronica he would have had the opportunity to visit the shrines when they weren’t covered in snow.
