There’s plenty of left leaning Americans who think Doug Ford is a good guy because he says shit about Trump. It shouldn’t be surprising.
To be fair, most Americans don’t pay any attention to Canadian politics (or any other country tbh). So Doug’s jacked up policies go in one ear and out the other because they very broadly don’t affect Americans.
Can’t really blame Americans for not knowing or caring about politics outside the US, we have to keep up with ones own state, federal, and possibly the politics of neighboring states.
Gavin has done what no one else is doing, punching back, speaking Trump’s language. It’s getting attention from all quarters. Meanwhile Dems are busy shutting him down preemptively because purity tests. It’s another fascinating move from the “we don’t want to govern” party.
Punching back is the absolute bare minimum requirement for a supposed opposition party (looking at you Schumer and Jeffries).
But Newsom has been repeatedly demonstrating that he is willing to throw our trans friends and unhoused neighbors under the bus for political points. Ask yourself, if he’s willing to betray one group, what’s stopping him from betraying any other group should he decide that it’s politically expedient?

And where do you plan to have them go? Because they have to go somewhere. Perhaps instead of fighting a symptom you treat the cause. Like a complete lack of affordable housing. And things like corporations and hedge funds hoarding single family homes that sit empty, often not even on the market because they’re treating them as appreciating assets not homes.
You see, that’s why I just can’t get behind this guy. Sometimes he is on point, other times he is a complete fuckhead. At least he isn’t full-time fuckhead like basically every republican, but that isn’t saying a hell of a lot.
