Raublut screwed over Hildebrand pretty hard. Were we ever told why he encouraged Hildebrand to get his schtappe?

To elaborate a little more, he needed someone from the main royal family to open the door to the farthest hall (branch family members like Gervasio don’t have the authority for that), so his Lanzenave allies could gain their divine wills. And fooling Hildebrand was just the easiest way to get the door open, and the least likely to give away their ture allegiance prematurely.

It seems like something of a long game, considering how Raublut was talking it up for months. But maybe so.

It is possible that Raublut was planning so far ahead, or he might just have made sure to befriend the prince, just in case it would become useful, or he might have had different plans initially, and then adapted to the new situation… or maybe he actually did feel warm toward the boy, but his devotion was so great he still used Hildebrand, despite their connection.

Considering how rather early on, Raublut encouraged Hildebrand to try to become the next Zent, I feel like Raublut having different plans and then adapting is the most likely option.
