I’m getting the impression this show is going to be sort of like Galaxy Express 999 for the modern age.

There’s the adolescents taking a looooong train ride to a questionable destination, and strange/pathetic towns/planets that are parables about the human condition along the way…

Only no mother/Maetel to take care of them, the railway authority is not paternalistic but is literally senile with little useful information.

(How did that hammer morse code trick work after the rail bridge behind them was washed out last episode?)

The girls are just out there on their own, with little help they can rely upon except each other.

Morse code was clearly transferred through 7G technology. The waves of the future.

Akira being the only voice of reason in a company of idiots for 20 minutes straight. I feel like it’s going to be a theme.

The pacing was much better this episode. Hopefully this is the show hitting its stride and we’ll get more nice little short story episodes like this one.

I disklike plots where everything could be resolved if one person would just say what they saw or heard. A simple “Yo, I just heard them talking about how they want to assimilate us into their weird mushroom tribe” would have solved everything.
